State Secretary Susanna Karawanskij presents the new Internet application: “The Thuringia Viewer is the new window into the geodata landscape of Thuringia”
In a video released today, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Agriculture introduces a new application that allows mobile research and free access to geodata on smartphones and tablets.
“The Thuringia Viewer is the new window into the geodata landscape of Thuringia. The administration has set out to become more transparent and to make data collected with taxpayers’ money available to citizens in a smart way,” said State Secretary Susanna Karawanskij.
The application can be used, for example, to search for land register maps or to display property boundaries. Current aerial photographs can be accessed and it’s also possible to search for standard land values on the go.
The Thuringia Viewer is an open-source project. Various states, local governments, and federal agencies have been involved in its development: “A strong community that will also meet future challenges in the geodata sector with modern technologies,” said the State Secretary.
A key capability of the new application is its modular structure, which allows different thematic viewers to be added quickly. The offer is therefore constantly being developed and additional new individual applications will follow.
